After a 16 year gap Hailsham bonfire society reformed, and on the 400th anniversary of the gunpowder plot, 1605 - 2005, Hailsham Bonfire Society triumphantly rose from the ashes.
We reformed in the new year 2005 and with a lot of hard work we managed to have a small torch light procession and firework display on November the 5th 2005.
We held a most successful (although wet at the start) celebration on the 21st of October 2006.
Last years celebrations were held on the 20th October 2007, and were a great success with much better weather than the previous year.
The celebrations for 2008 were again successful and enjoyed both by ourselves and a good turn out from the public, and as a bonus the weather was good compared to the weeks before and after our event. A sum of £687.77 was raised from the street collections for our selected charities. We would like to thank all those that supported the event and kindly made donations, as well as the visiting societies for joining us.
