Our bonfire celebrations for 2009, held on Saturday 17th October, were a great success with a very good attendance from the public and fine dry weather. The procession followed a different route to last year, going along Station Road, Bell Banks Road, Market Street and along the High Street, where the wreath was laid at the War Memorial by our President.

This was followed by the 2 large firework poppies and then, following the 1 minutes silence, firecrackers. The procession then made it's way back to headquarters via Vicarage Lane, Vicarage Road, George Street and South Road. This change of route allowed more people to see the procession. After the 2nd procession to the firesite came the grand firework display which was our best yet and this was then followed by the mass destruction of our set piece.

Overall, a good time was had by both the public and the visiting societies.

A sum of £951.58 was raised from the street collections for our selected charities.

We would like to thank all those that supported the event and kindly made donations, as well as the visiting societies for joining us.
